About Bethany

Bethany Joseph, LSW, MPH, CCM, has over 18 years of experience as a geriatric social worker.

I am a daughter, a sister, a mother, a spouse and have the abundance of joy, and responsibilities, that all those roles bring. And that is before we even get to my professional life! I understand the juggling, balancing and all-out chaos that having so many roles can bring to our lives. I will work with you to get you from chaos to calm.

So many of us are faced with long days of taking care of our families, our friends, our careers, and then we are faced with becoming caregivers for our parents. This work is personal for me, as a caregiver for my aging parents and family members. The strain on the sandwich generation is real, and only made more intense by the COVID pandemic. Getting the right help at the right time makes all the difference.

Bethany Joseph Elder Care Consulting, LLC was born into existence through another role, that of friend.

After providing support and guidance for close friends, and then some of their friends, a business was born.

Since 2017, Bethany has helped older adults and their families throughout the NY/ NJ metropolitan area to plan for compassionate and safe aging.

Bethany has extensive experience working with older adults and their families, especially adult children as they transition into caregiving roles for the older adult(s) in their lives, as well as considerable knowledge of hospice, palliative and end of life care.

In addition to her private business, Bethany works in leadership at a New Jersey hospital.

She has worked as a home care and hospice social worker, in case management with two NJ hospitals and as an on-site liaison for a home care and hospice company based at New York-Presbyterian Columbia. Her early career experience included work at adult daycare programs and working with LGBTQ elders in NYC.

She earned her undergraduate degree at Brandeis University, her Master’s in Social Work from New York University and her Master’s in Public Health from Boston University.

Bethany resides in her hometown of Maplewood, NJ having returned in 2007 with her wife to raise their two children. When not juggling her multiple professional and personal hats, she enjoys the beach, baseball and getting tattoos.

“Bethany's recommendations, knowledge about how the systems (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.) work, and guidance was incredibly helpful and got us through a very difficult time. Can't recommend her highly enough.”
